This is a continued theme throughout the ENTIRE book where everything stops so we can have long internal monologue about side characters and what they're doing, what happened in their past, and many other things not relevant to the story. It's always a pleasure when an author finds a good narrator and retains her/him throughout the series.

I have to say I got very excited when I saw book 7 was out in the Detective Lottie Parker series, it’s no secret that I love these books… How much can one woman take… Another great police procedural twisty mystery to get your teeth into, I cannot fault these books ever, it has it all… Murder, love drama, family dramas…. A surprise announcement at the end of the book leaves a bit of a cliffhanger that will have fans of Lottie Parker biting their nails waiting for the next episode in this series. I don't think BROKEN SOULS was as exciting or as thrilling as past books but it was still marginally compelling. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins.

Then the team find a link to the suicide of a Robert Brady, who was found hanging from a tree two weeks ago. The girls decide to go to NYC for Christmas taking Louis with them and their newly discovered uncle. If you love Karin Slaughter, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine, you'll be hooked by this heart-stopping thriller from Patricia Gibney. I was worried that I wouldn't like this because the last couple books have got on my nerves but I wanted to keep on to my hope that Gibney would deliver a book worthy of this series. Sure she’s investigating horrible murders, her kids constantly remind her that she is never there when they need her, and her romantic life has hit a snag (Boyd is keeping a secret), but for once she is attempting to deal with her issues vs.Writing is intelligent, sophisticated and thought-provoking, establishing Foyle's personality with so much depth already and providing some tense and heart-tugging moments. This book (and hereby also this review) deal with a past rape that is constantly mentioned in the book and that the heroine has to deal with. Set in a small town in Maine, Broken Souls is a story of how Mark and Alicia let go of their past demons and move forward and build a life together. Have always admired the visual detail that went into 'Foyle's War' and how high quality the production values are, with beautiful costumes, the evocative way the characters are made up, the look of the houses and cars, pretty locations and authentic-looking scenery.There is a constant pull they have that just oozed with sexual tension and was sure to explode at any given moment. Her family feature so little in this book, except as ships passing and all that, although Lottie does enjoy a little outing with her grandson Louis. Then through the course of their investigations, the team learn that Fiona had an 8 year old daughter that no one had thought to tell them about, until her husband-to- be Ryan did, and the race is on to locate her. They each have their own bags to carry and I feel like they did help each other figure a lot of things out.
